Developer workspace cleanup

Clean developer workspaces without treating your PC like a junk drawer.

ArtifactPilot is a specialized Windows cleanup app for developers. It finds rebuildable workspace clutter, explains why it was flagged, and keeps cleanup review-first.

Find common clutter

Scan for dependency folders, virtual environments, generated caches, build outputs, coverage reports, framework artifacts, and project metadata.

Understand the results

Use risk labels, candidate reasons, file counts, size totals, and Scan Analysis before deciding what to select.

Clean deliberately

After activation, cleanup uses a final dry-run preview and asks the operating system to move approved items to the Recycle Bin/Trash where possible. Items are normally restorable until that location is emptied.

Built for workspaces

Not a generic disk cleaner.

Generic cleanup tools can be too broad for developer machines. ArtifactPilot focuses on rebuildable project artifacts and uses context checks so folder names like build, dist, target, vendor, bin, and obj are only flagged when project context supports the detection.

Modes

Start safe, then broaden carefully.

  • Conservative (Lowest risk): generated caches, reports, and metadata.
  • Node modules only: focused node_modules discovery.
  • Recommended: common rebuildable dependencies, caches, reports, and build outputs.
  • Comprehensive (Caution): caution categories for experienced review.
FAQ

Developer workspace cleanup questions.

What is developer workspace clutter?

ArtifactPilot focuses on rebuildable project byproducts such as dependency folders, virtual environments, generated caches, build outputs, reports, test artifacts, and framework outputs.

Is ArtifactPilot a general PC cleaner?

No. ArtifactPilot is specialized for developer workspaces. It avoids source code, documents, downloads, personal media, system folders, installed apps, source-control folders, environment/configuration files, and unsafe cleanup targets.

Which scan mode should I start with?

Start with Conservative (Lowest risk) for the lowest-impact scan. Use Node modules only for a focused node_modules pass. Use Recommended for broader common rebuildable artifacts, and Comprehensive (Caution) only when you are ready to review caution categories carefully.

Does cleanup happen automatically?

No. Scanning is read-only. Cleanup requires selecting candidates, reviewing a final dry-run preview, and approving the Recycle Bin/Trash move after activation. Items are normally restorable until that location is emptied, depending on operating-system behavior.
